The CGA provides today’s optimal forum where
stakeholders can share information and perspectives and work together on
all aspects of damage prevention issues. This allows the achievement of
results that would otherwise be impossible. The CGA
and our dedicated volunteers are working with industry
stakeholders and regulators to produce stronger, more effective results
through partnership, collaboration, and the pursuit of common goals in
damage prevention.

Why Be a Member?
Since publishing the
Common Ground Study in 1999, the CGA has grown to over 1,300
individual members and 165 member organizations. The Common Ground
Study was only the beginning. Sharing
responsibility in damage prevention can only be effective with positive
relationships and communication among the participating
stakeholders. The strength of the CGA
is in the organization's broad representation of all stakeholders
in damage prevention. Our members work together to provide the largest possible forum to
share and disseminate damage prevention information. Being a member of the CGA will
provide access to a wealth of expertise from the many different
stakeholder perspectives that exist in the
organization.
In promoting a spirit of
shared responsibility, the CGA welcomes all stakeholders with a genuine
interest in reducing damages to the underground
infrastructure. All best practices, publications, and
reports endorsed by the CGA come with consensus support from
experts representing the following stakeholder groups:
Excavator, Locator, Road Builders, Electric,
Telecommunications, Oil, Gas, Railroad, Water, One Call, Public Works,
Equipment Manufacturing, Fencing contractors, State Regulators,
Insurance and Engineering/Design. Various membership
levels exist within the CGA membership structure to accommodate each
company and stakeholder category.
